ASHLEY DAVIS

Meet Your Florist

FOUNDER & FLORAL DESIGNER behind Gravity Floral, a St. Petersburg floral design studio serving Tampa Bay and beyond.

After more than a decade in floral design and luxury events, I created Gravity Floral as a place to explore flowers a little differently. My work lives somewhere between floristry, sculpture, and experimentation, with an obsession for color, movement, and flowers that still look like they remember where they came from.

More than a decade in, I still find myself most interested in the same things: color, mechanics, movement, and what happens when you give the materials a little room to lead.

Gravity grew out of a place of wanting to bring all of that experience together, while making work that feels specific to the people and spaces it’s created for.

I’ve worked inside luxury event studios, built large-scale installations, freelanced, worked in floral wholesale, and learned this industry from more angles than I probably knew existed when I started.

I wanted to build a floral studio where beautiful work didn’t have to mean overly polished. Where an unusual stem, an unexpected color combination, or something growing in a direction I hadn’t planned could change the whole design. I’m much more interested in responding to what a flower in already doing than arranging it into submission, and in taking the things my clients are drawn to and interpreting them in ways they may not have imagined themselves.

That approach carries through everything I make. I’m drawn to strong color stories, movement, negative space, interesting ingredients, and designs that feel considered without feeling too perfect. Sometimes that becomes a wedding bouquet. Sometimes it’s an installation, a floral wearable, or something harder to categorize.

I think we should use a photo of you working here!

I also care deeply about how the work gets made.

Gravity is intentionally foam-free, and I design with reusable mechanics whenever possible. I source thoughtfully, reuse what can be reused, and try to make choices that leave less behind. Sustainability isn’t an aesthetic or a marketing angle here. It’s simply part of being thoughtful about the materials I get to work with.

After years of creating within different corners of the floral industry, Gravity is the place where all of those experiences get to meet curiosity, experimentation, and the stories and ideas my client bring with them.

Based in St. Petersburg, Florida, Gravity Floral creates artful, sustainable floral design for weddings and events throughout Tampa Bay and beyond, as well as editorial projects, installations, wearables, and the occasional idea that doesn’t fit neatly into a category.

Those might be my favorite.

WHAT MATTERS HERE

Gravity exists because I wanted the freedom to make art without compromising my values.
These are the things that shape how I design, what I source, who I work with, and the experience I want every client to have.

Curiosity informs Everything

I never want to make the same beautiful thing over and over again. I’m interested in the story behind a celebration, the colors you can’t stop thinking about, the strange little flower everyone else overlooks, and what happens when we try something unexpected.

Curiosity keeps the work personal. Your flowers should feel like they belong to your celebration, not like they were pulled from a formula and recolored to match.

Sustainability is Part of the Design

Beautiful flowers shouldn’t require leaving a pile of plastic behind.

Gravity is committed to thoughtful, foam-free floral design and mechanics that allow us to create ambitious work with less waste. I prioritize reusable mechanics, responsible sourcing, seasonality, and thoughtful plans for what happens to flowers and materials after an event.

Sustainability isn’t a separate aesthetic here. It’s part of the creative challenge, and often the reason we discover a better way to build something.

You Belong in the Story

There is no default version of love, family, gender, culture, or celebration. And there shouldn’t be a default version of a wedding, either.

Gravity is an inclusive floral studio where LGBTQIA+ couples, multicultural celebrations, nontraditional weddings, and people who haven’t always seen themselves reflected in the wedding industry are welcomed and celebrated.

I want to understand what matters to you, honor it thoughtfully, and create flowers that feel like they could only belong to your story.

Nature Gets a Say

Flowers are a natural medium. Seasonality, variation, and imperfection aren’t problems to engineer out of them. They’re part of what makes them extraordinary.
I design with what each stem naturally wants to do rather than forcing every flower into submission. A curved stem, an unexpected color variation, or a wonderfully weird dahlia mutation might become the thing an entire bouquet is built around.

That openness to the material itself is a part of what makes floral design art.

Thoughtful Work Requires Space

I intentionally take on a limited number of full-service weddings and events.

Not because I want Gravity to feel exclusive, but because I want the work to feel considered. I don’t want your wedding to become just another date on my calendar, and I won’t push you toward an idea simply because it’s easier to produce.

Fewer events give me the space to think, experiment, source intentionally, solve complicated design problems, and stay genuinely invested in what we’re creating together.

Thoughtful. Unexpected. Personal.

That’s what I want Gravity to be known for: incredible color, sustainable innovation, flowers that transform a space, and an experience that leaves people feeling genuinely seen.

Because flowers can do more than make a room beautiful. They can change how a space feels and become part of how we remember a moment.
